What inspired your family members to choose Appleton Public Schools across generations? (i.e. traditions, a particular experience, or a shared value):
Our family is built on the tradition of the Appleton schools. There are almost 100 years between the graduations of my grandfather and my son from the AASD.
How did your time Appleton Public Schools influence the personal or professional journeys of your family members?
Everyone in my family went on to successful college and career experiences because of the AASD. Our family includes lawyers, business people, a judge, educators, and a scientist. All had their grounding in the AASD.
In what ways has attending the same schools in Appleton created a stronger bond within your family?
Amongst our family, we have attended all of the high schools in the district which creates both a sense of unity and a fun rivalry. Through it all, we shared the same experiences of caring educators, high expectations, and connections through academics, the arts, and athletics.
Any special memories or reflections that highlight the significance of this shared experience?
As a Principal in the district, I take great pride in knowing that I am a part of a district that provided so much for me and my family and it is privilege to give back and work to provide a similar experience to current and future generations.
